Blogging builds the online reputation of people as well as the companies. It helps you to show off your skills and brand value. The companies as well as people have utilized most of the popular blogging platforms. But times has changed since then. Being online is not common and people are finding it hard to maximize the reach of their content. There are so much of social media networks available today. These networks help people to find and share relevant content. How can you stand out?

Blogging has caught the attention of people during the late 90’s and it has evolved to become one of the top tools for online branding. Individuals and companies has their accounts on free platforms like Blogger, WordPress etc. Now blogging is not about just words its more than just the textual form. With the advent of Tumblr, photoblogs started gaining attention.

How can I or my business stand out?

LinkedIn

Leverage the first mover advantage. Recently the professional networking site LinkedIn has started their own publishing platform. That means, a selected few can post their own articles through LinkedIn and share with your network as well as outside your network. The published content will show up in your profile as well. The below link provides the submission form requesting access and once approved you will receive an email from the LinkedIn team.

LinkedIn Publishing Platform

LinkedIn is the third fastest growing social network after twitter and Facebook.

LinkedIn is now responsible for a staggering 64% of all visits from social media channels to corporate websites according to a research report by econsultancy.By contrast, Facebook accounts for 17% of such visits, while Twitter is on just 14%. LinkedIn also helps in building your professional profile and thereby increasing the follower count of you as well as your company page.

Don’t miss the opportunity!!

Medium

Medium is a blog publishing platform founded by Twitter co-foundersEvan WilliamsandBiz Stonein August 2012.The platform software provides a fullWYSIWYGuser interface when editing online, with various options for formatting provided as the user runs over text. Once an entry is posted, it can be recommended and shared by other people, in a similar way to Twitter.Posts can be up voted in a similar way toDiggandReddit, and content can be assigned a specific theme, in the same way asTumblr.

The one feature I liked the most is the commenting. Usually we see comment box at the bottom of the page. But medium provides adding comments to inline text itself.

Medium

As Ashwin Ramesh says medium has virality built into their system. You need not worry about publicizing your post. The readers can recommend and share their articles on medium itself. The author has a dedicated author bio page. Once you publish your post, you can view the stats on your profile and based on the stats you can actually decide on the type of post to write. (Though I am not saying that we should stop blogging. Medium is a new channel which people as well as companies can use to gain more visibility and include as a part of their marketing strategy!) After all medium is free!!

Medium also offers collaborative writing. Once you start writing a new content, you can share the draft with your friends and get feedback which will help you to improve the writing and the quality of content.

Start interacting with people, add relevant comments, converse and get noticed which will in directly help you gain more page views.

Let me know what do you think of these new platforms and how it has become the part of your content strategy.
